A New Direction for the Future of Volkswagen
Two campaigns introduced by Volkswagen of America titled “Hello Light” and “Drive Bigger’ sets to usher in a direction of change for the automotive brand. This change is intended to highlight the brand’s renewed commitment to auto innovation and responsibility as well as showcasing the role a world-renown auto manufacturer can play in contributing to the greater good.
After a period of difficulties the Volkswagen brand faced in 2015 over the diesel vehicles and emission levels, we can see that the automotive brand is focused on making improvements such as introducing new ethics and compliance programs and taking a determined approach to electric vehicle development. Let’s take a look at what we can look forward to in the future of Volkswagen.
“Hello Light” Is A Story of Redemption
The “hello Light” commercial is a calculated production that aims to turn the page of a dark moment in Volkswagen’s history of vehicle production. The ad aired during the broadcast of the NBA Finals (game three) and will only be shown for a limited time. The inclusion of the classic song from Simon & Garfunkel titled “The Sound of Silence” featured in the ad is one way of an apology by Volkswagen to the diesel crisis. The ad is also an acknowledgement of starting a new chapter in electric vehicle production.
“Drive Bigger” is a Nod to Volkswagen Doing Better and Being Greater
The “Drive Bigger” campaign kicked off during the Women’s World Cup and will be initiated across media platforms including traditional and digital media and represents Volkswagen’s long-term vision for its brand. The campaign emphasizes the need to work together to bring about change to the benefit of all, from its employees right down to the dealerships.
